Mission
The Department of Music at Sadanam Kumaran College, in collaboration with the Sadanam Academy for Performing Arts (SAPA), is dedicated to:
1. Educational Excellence: Providing a comprehensive and immersive B.A. Music (Honours) programme that balances rigorous academic training with practical experience, ensuring our students excel in their musical pursuits.
2. Holistic Development: Offering free training in a diverse array of instruments and performing arts, including Keyboard, Violin, Guitar, Veena, Mridangam, Bharatanatyam, and Kalari, to cultivate versatile and multitalented artists.
3. Cultural Preservation: Upholding the legacy of the Sadanam Gandhi Seva Sadan Kathakali Academy by integrating traditional arts and cultural heritage into our curriculum, preserving and promoting the rich cultural traditions of India.
4. Innovative Environment: Providing state-of-the-art infrastructure and fostering a creative learning atmosphere where students are inspired to innovate and excel.

About the Department
Our Music Department collaborates with the Sadanam Academy for Performing Arts (SAPA), a proud institution rooted in the legacy of the Sadanam Gandhi Seva Sadan Kathakali Academy established in 1953 by the revered Gandhian and freedom fighter,
K. Kumaran, the Academy has been a beacon of cultural and artistic excellence for decades.
From 2024, our Music Department is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of musicians and artists through our esteemed four-year B.A. Music (Honours) programme, affiliated with the University of Calicut. This comprehensive programme is designed to provide an immersive knowledge in music. Students also have the flexibility to exit the programme at the end of the third year with a B.A. Music degree.
Our department offers expertized faculties, who are not only experienced educators but also accomplished musicians dedicated to mentoring and inspiring our students. Our infrastructures support a conducive learning environment where creativity and academic excellence flourish.
Beyond the core curriculum, we offer free training in a variety of instruments and performing arts including Keyboard, Violin, Guitar, Veena, Mridangam, Bharatanatyam, and Kalari. Students can also enhance their additional skills with value-added courses such as Sound Engineering. This course provides vital skills in audio technology and production, equipping students to navigate and excel in the modern music industry. This unique, holistic approach ensures that our students have the opportunity to become versatile and multitalented artiste, equipped to excel in the diverse world of performing arts.
