Gandhi Seva Sadan Charitable Trust

Gandhi Seva Sadan Charitable Trust is established by Sri Sadanam Kumaran and Mrs. Sarojini Amma in 2005. The idea was to establish a center of excellence pan India. Late Sadanam Kumaran was a freedom fighter who was jailed by the British Raj as a part of Quit India Movement in 1942. He escaped from the jail and was caught by the British authorities while he was underground and put on fetters as a punishment under rigorous imprisonment. Sri Sadanam Kumaran came back to hisvillage, on call from Mahatma Gandhi to the youths to go back to the villages and start reconstructing India from grassroots in order to be ready to take over from the British once they leave.

He established an aided school for Harijans which had to be closed later due to political interventions. He established 3 institutions after that.

  • Gandhi Seva Sadan Kathakali and Classic Art Academy and

  • Seva Sadan Central School

All these three institutions are registered under societies Act of 1860 as separate societies.

Gandhi Seva Sadan Charitable Trust was floated as a public Trust in 2005 in which year Sri Sadanam Kumaran passed away. On his death the mantle was passed on to Mr. Ravikumar the eldest son. He was co-opted as Managing Trustee with the responsibility of starting institutions of higher learning. Mr. Ravikumar is a post graduate in Management from Indian Institute of Management - Ahmadabad (Batch 1974-76) with vast exposure to Industry and Academics. Today the Trust has 4 institutions under its management;

  • SADANAM INSTITUTE OF COMMERCE AND MANAGEMENT STUDIES- (SICOMS) which runs a two year Post Graduate Programme in Management approved by AICTE under ministry of Education -Govt of India.

  • SADANAM KUMARAN COLLEGE [affiliated to Calicut University] which runs 9 courses. i.e., B.Com. (Finance), B.Com.(Computer Application), B.com (Co-operation), B.B.A., B.Sc. (Computer Science), BCA, BA English and M. Com. (Finance), BA (Music) and BSW (Bachelor of Social Work) From a low of 55 private students in 2005 we have reached a strength of..........students with affiliation to Calicut University as of today.

  • SAROJ PLAY AND LEARN SCHOOL - LKG and UKG. The idea is to train children in important certain values so that they contribute to the society once they grow up.

  • SADANAM ACADEMY FOR PERFORMING ARTS (SAPA)- SAPA at present imparts training in Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, Violin, Guitar. Keyboard, Classical (Carnatic) Music and Kalarippayattu
